You come up with a post and wait. Then comes a dreaded silence, what if no one liked what I published?
We, humans, have this tendency to worry about what other people think. Why didn’t they like it? Was it that bad? I liked and shared their each and every campaign and even that “stupid dog tricks” video. Why I never get what I want? ETC.
Gleaning the internet for treasures, creating compelling content for social media sites has become a mandatory task for any professional working in a social media marketing agency. I have worked in a number of IT firms with multi-cultural setups and have an immense knowledge of online marketing. I am completely aware of how the process works. We spent four to five hours in crafting a fantastic post, share it on all social media channels. After every hour, we tend to pull up the stats to see how many have liked, commented or shared the post.
The moment we are greeted with big zero- it feels like no one cares.
Rejection hurts- no matter how amateur or experienced are you. You have put all your heart into something, you want people to like it. And when things don’t appear to be working at the moment, we get disheartened. Statistically, if you are one in a million, don’t you think there are 7000 other people just like you?
So what could be done? How to seek the attention of our potential audience in no time? Let’s hold off on that for a second, and start somewhere else (which will eventually lead us to the answer).
Before you let rejection torment you any longer, consider the below-mentioned points.
Don’t take it personally
“If we don’t laugh at the same joke again, then why do we cry for the same problem again and again?”
It’s okay! Being a social media marketing professional, you cannot make everyone happy with your work. You do need to look at yourself, though. Is anything wrong? Always remember, it’s all about your audience. So if you are writing all about you, they simply won’t care. Afterall, people don’t care what you need. They read (more importantly buy) when there’s something in it for them.
Discover your voice
Think of how you describe yourself or ask someone out (your friends or family maybe)? This is your voice. This is you- the way you sound to your friends. After knowing your voice, start writing. The topic could be anything- be it your passion or what keeps you up at night or do you have any solution to someone’s problem.
“More importantly- be helpful”
Use Your Gifts
We all are gifted with abilities that should be used, not buried, agree? Let me explain when you are happy and strong your contribution gets stronger. And we try to make the best use of our talent, so why settle for less?
It’s all about using your talent for good.
Further, I would like to end the post by offering certain questions to get you thinking.
- What’s your reader’s biggest challenge?
- Have you written or commented on other social media posts available in your niche?
- Is your post helpful in any way?
Lastly, make a difference that matters. Use what you have learned, share what you have experienced and let it go!
